Open a PDF or a photo in Mail, Files, Safari or Photos, tap Share, then choose Essential Scan. If you can't see it, scroll to the end of the row of apps, tap More and add it to your favourites. Inside the app, tap + to scan with the camera or import from Files.
The document is saved before it's read. If you close the sheet while it says "Reading", Essential Scan finishes reading it the next time you open the app.
Details are found automatically and can be wrong. Open the document, tap the ••• button and choose Edit details to correct them, or Move to folder to file it somewhere else. Check any date, amount or reference against the document before relying on it.
Titles and summaries need a device with Apple Intelligence turned on. Without it, documents get a basic reading: folder, dates, amount and reference. Settings shows whether Apple Intelligence is available.
Free reads 15 documents. After that, new documents are still saved and are read as soon as Essential Scan Pro is active.
Open Settings on your iPhone or iPad, tap your name, then Subscriptions. Select Essential Scan Pro to manage or cancel it. Every document you saved, and every detail already found, stays yours when it ends.
In Essential Scan, open Settings and tap "Delete all documents". Read the confirmation before continuing. Deletion cannot be undone.
