Essential Scan privacy policy

Essential Scan does not collect your data. There is no analytics, no advertising, no behavioral tracking and no third-party software development kit in the app. Nobody working on Essential Scan can see what you enter.

Where your information is kept

Your documents and their details are stored only on your device, protected by its passcode. They are included in your own device backup if you use one. PDF, CSV, and text exports leave the app when you choose to share them. Exports are not password protected. Copies saved outside the app and device backups remain under your control.

What is stored

The PDFs and photos you share or scan into Essential Scan, and the details found in them. These include titles, senders, dates, amounts, reference numbers and short summaries, plus any changes you make. The app also stores recognized text by page, actions, reminder times, completion status, favorites, tags, notes, archive status, and collections with checklists. Apple Intelligence reads documents on your device; nothing is sent to a server. The camera is used only when you choose to scan, and Face ID only if you turn on the lock. Essential Scan has no accounts and is not directed at children.

Optional permissions

The system Photos picker shares only the photos you choose. Local reminder notifications use discreet text without document names or details. iOS manages notification permission and delivery. Face ID and passcode checks are performed by iOS.

Payment

Purchases are handled by Apple. Essential Scan never sees your payment details. The app uses verified purchase records to check subscription access.

Deleting everything

Settings in Essential Scan has a "Delete all documents" control that removes every document, its recognized text and details, and all collections from this device. Individual documents remain in Recently Deleted for up to 30 days unless permanently deleted earlier. Deleting the app also removes its local data.

Who is responsible

The controller of any personal data described here is Joao Vitor Humenhuk Achutti, a sole trader, 38 Allenby Street, Tel Aviv-Jaffa 6332512, Israel. You can ask what is held, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, or complain, by writing to essentialscan@humenhuk.com. You can also complain to the Israeli Privacy Protection Authority or to the data protection authority where you live.
