Get help with Essential Scan

Open a PDF or a photo in Mail, Files, Safari or Photos, tap Share, then choose Essential Scan. If you can't see it, scroll to the end of the row of apps, tap More and add it to your favorites. Inside the app, tap + to scan with the camera, import from Files, or choose photos.

The document is saved before it's read. If you close the sheet while it says "Reading", Essential Scan finishes reading it the next time you open the app.

Details are found automatically and can be wrong. Open the document, tap the ••• button and choose Edit details to correct them, or Move to folder to file it somewhere else. Check any date, amount or reference against the document before relying on it.

Titles and summaries need a device with Apple Intelligence turned on. Without it, documents get a basic reading with a folder, dates, amount, and reference. Settings shows whether Apple Intelligence is available.

Free reads 15 documents. After that, new documents are still saved and are read as soon as Essential Scan Pro is active.

Open a document and tap Add an action. Choose the task, due date, and optional reminder. Essential Scan asks for notification permission when you save a reminder. If notifications are off, open device Settings or save without a reminder. iOS controls delivery. Keep up to 60 upcoming reminders.

Create a collection from the Collections tab. Use a starter checklist or your own. Add documents, link them to checklist items, and review missing items. Prepare PDF packet creates a cover, page index, checklist, and source documents. Preview the PDF before choosing Share. The app does not submit claims or applications.

Open a document, tap the options button, then Arrange PDF pages. Reorder, rotate, or remove pages, then save a new copy. The original stays intact.

Search includes recognized document text, notes, tags, and extracted details. Documents imported in version 1.0 can be indexed from Search or by opening their text. Up to 200 pages and 75 MB are accepted per PDF. The share extension reads an initial excerpt, with full text available in the app. Choose up to 50 photos per import, 30 MB each and 150 MB combined.

Library options and Settings both include Recently Deleted. Restore a document within 30 days or delete it permanently. Archived documents stay searchable when Include archived is selected.

Open Settings on your iPhone or iPad, tap your name, then Subscriptions. Select Essential Scan Pro to manage or cancel it. Every document you saved, and every detail already found, stays yours when it ends.

In Essential Scan, open Settings and tap "Delete all documents". Read the confirmation before continuing. Deletion cannot be undone.
